  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 125 g (1 cup) all-purpose flour

For the coating

  • 100 g (1/2 cup) white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For frying

  • 2 liters (8 cups) vegetable oil

For dipping

  • Chocolate sauce (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, 35 g sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.

2. Heat the oil

Heat 2 liters of vegetable oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 190°C (375°F).

3. Form the churros

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

Pipe 10 cm strips of dough into the hot oil, using a pair of scissors to cut the dough.

Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2 minutes per side.

4. Coat the churros

Mix 100 g sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a shallow dish.

Roll the fried churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.

5. Serve

Serve warm, optionally with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping.

Enjoy your homemade churros!
