Ingredients

Dough

  • 4 eggs
  • 500 g (2 1/2 cups) granulated sugar
  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) grated apple (do not squeeze out the juice)
  • 2 packets of baking powder (about 24 g / 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Chocolate sauce

  • 400 g (3 1/4 cups) powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 200 g (1 cup) margarine

Instructions

1. Preheat and prepare

Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).

Grease and flour a large baking pan (approximately 30×40 cm [15-20 inches] in size).

2. Make the batter

Crack the eggs into a large mixing bowl and beat with the sugar until light and creamy.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring to create a thick batter.

Add the grated apple to the batter and mix thoroughly to ensure the apple is evenly distributed.

3. Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan.

4. Make the chocolate sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine the powdered sugar, dark cocoa powder, and Nesquik cocoa powder.

Add the milk and heat on low, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.

When the mixture is almost boiling, add the Rama margarine and stir until fully melted.

5. Coat the cake

Once the chocolate sauce is ready, pour it over the cooled apple cake.

Allow the sauce to set before slicing the cake.

Serving suggestions
